Photography Prints Now Available

I now have an online store for people to buy prints of some of my photographs. You can get to it by clicking here or through the Store link at the top of this site. I decided to do the store through Etsy, which is a collection of online shops that sell handmade and vintage goods. In the near future I’ll be having a giveaway for some of my prints as well as a sale or two in the shop, so stay tuned.

We had so much fun last time that Tiff and I decided to go to Station 22‘s Supper Club event again this month. This time around they did a Carolina-style pig pickin’. The menu was slaw, hushpuppies, baked beans, macaroni salad, and of course the pig. There was a great folk band entertaining us throughout the night called Cotton Bones. The night ended with some delicious fruit cobbler and relaxing while listing to music and chatting with the people around us. Once again it was a wonderful night.

Two years ago I started taking a series of photos along Geneva Road here in Provo, UT. As I took the photos I tracked my GPS coordinates so that I would know exactly where each shot was taken. This week I decided to go back to one of the locations. When I photographed there two years ago there were a bunch of trees and this cool looking piece of equipment. Since then all of those trees have been torn out and the land is just thistle and weeds. Here’s a shot of this location now and a shot of it two years ago:

Old Wood Dock

I’ve been on a search to find an old wooden dock around Utah Lake but haven’t had much luck just driving around. I decided to look online and was able to find a single photo of the kind of dock that I had in mind. The problem was that I didn’t know where the photo was taken or if that dock still existed. The perimeter of Utah Lake is about 70 miles so I was a little concerned that I wouldn’t be able to track down the location. Thanks to the aerial photos on Google Maps I was able to find and photograph it. I’m not 100% happy with the photos I got, but I thought this one was alright.

Hay Bales

After taking a long break I decided to work on my Geneva Road series again. A couple of years ago I decided to photograph along Geneva and document the GPS coordinates so that I could see how the area changed over time. Here’s one of the shots I took this weekend of one of the many fields full of hay bales.

Corn Field

Yesterday we went for a drive around the southern end of Utah Lake both for a family outing and also looking to see if there was anything interesting to photograph. Well, I couldn’t find any inspiration in the lake, but both Tiffany and I liked this particular corn field, so that’s what you get to look at on the blog today. I plan on further exploring Utah Lake so you may see that in the future.

Here are a couple more shots from when we were driving through Point Reyes, CA.

You have to love a bus stop that has it’s own personality and charm like this one does, and the chalkboard inside is great. The mailboxes also have some character of their own and some wonderful texture to them as well. There’s something nostalgic about the classic old mailbox that I’m often drawn to.

Tiff and I were invited to Station 22’s first Supper Club event. They decided to bring in the South with a crawfish boil and a bluegrass band. Most of us all sat at one big table so there was some fun getting-to-know-each-other going on, along with the great food! The appetizer was cheddar grits with shrimp and a sauce that gave it a nice spicy kick, then of course the crawfish along with potatoes, corn on the cob and sausage. For dessert was piping-hot peach cobbler served in mason jars. It was all delicious and the night was a lot of fun.

If you’re in the Provo area you should definitely check out Station 22 in Historic Downtown Provo.

We recently went camping near Point Reyes, California and saw this great old wooden building and boat dock in one of the small costal towns that we drove through.

Snapshot: Ice Cream Daydream

Back at the end of May when we were on our Santa Barbara vacation I took this shot of our youngest while she was enjoying her ice cream on Stearns Wharf. I just love the thoughtful expression on her face.
